On the 29th of last month, McCarty first joined Florida, a spring camp in the US, and improved his condition. McCarty said, “I was satisfied with the overall condition of pitching and the feeling of my fingertips. His throwing mechanics and release points were as good as he thought. As soon as he entered the spring camp, he thought he needed to get into a physical condition that could deal with hitters, so he improved his condition a lot,” he said.
McCarty joined the Cleveland Guardians in the 7th round (222nd overall) in 2017. He started as a starting pitcher in the minor leagues (Triple A) from the 2021 season. That year, he went 9-6 with a 5.01 earned run average in 24 games and 124 innings. The following year, he was called up to the major leagues and went 4-3 with a 4.54 earned run average in 37⅔ innings in 13 major league games.
