The Dodgers, who missed the opportunity to run on second base in the second inning, launched a counterattack in the third inning. After one out, Austin Barnes got to base with a right-handed hit, and then Mookie Betts fired a two-run four to tie the game against Cubs starter Marcus Stroman. After watching the first pitch, he hit the sinker on the second pitch, leading to his third home run of the season.

The Dodgers did not stand still. Following Freddie Freeman’s walk in the 6th inning, Muncy turned the game over to 4-3 with a superior two-run four. With this home run, Muncy surpassed Pete Alonso (New York Mets) to become the sole leader in home runs (11) in the National League. And JD Martinez completed a back-to-back home run with a solo home run in left center wall.

After two outs in the last ninth inning, the Dodgers sealed the game with Betts’ two RBI double in a chance greeted by a hit by Miguel Vargas and a walk by Barnes.
