온라인카지노Not just any perfect game.
It’s the 24th perfect game in Major League Baseball history. New York Yankees right-handed pitcher Domingo Hermann (31) threw a perfect game against the Oakland Athletics in the 2023 Major League Baseball World Series at Oakland Coliseum in Oakland, California, USA, on 29 September.
Hermann went nine innings without allowing a hit or a walk and did not allow a single base runner to reach base. He faced 27 batters and struck out nine as the Yankees cruised to an 11-0 victory. Hermann picked up his fifth win of the season, lowering his season ERA to 4.54.
It’s been 11 years in the making. The 23rd perfect game in history was thrown by Felix Hernandez, who started for the Seattle Mariners against the Tampa Bay Rays on 16 August 2012.
What makes Herman”s perfect game so special is that he did it with less than 100 pitches. A complete game with fewer than 100 pitches in the major leagues is known as a “Greg Maddux moment,” and he surpassed it.
It took him 11 years to achieve this feat. The official website of Major League Baseball (MLB.com) announced on the 30th that “Hermann not only threw a perfect game, but also a ‘Maddux,’ which means a complete game with fewer than 100 pitches.” Hermann threw 99 pitches and became the first pitcher to throw a perfect game with a ‘Maddux’ since Philip Humber threw a perfect game with 96 pitches on 22 April 2012.”
At the time, Humber’s perfect game was an anomaly. “It may have been the least likely of all perfect games,” MLB.com wrote that day. Humber was drafted by the New York Mets with the third overall pick in the 2004 First-Year Player Draft, but with just 371 career innings and a 5.31 ERA in the majors, he was a 29-year-old junior nearing the end of his major league career,” wrote MLB.com in a look back at Humber’s perfect game.
For Humber, the perfect game was a one-hit wonder. After going 16-23 with a 5.31 ERA in his major league career, Humber went 5-5 with a 6.44 ERA in 2012 with the Chicago White Sox.
After going 8-0 with a 7.90 ERA for the Houston Astros in 2013, Humber was limited to Triple-A in 2014 before joining the Kia Tigers in 2015, taking a risk on unfamiliar Korean soil. However, Humber failed miserably in Korea, going just 3-3 with a 6.75 ERA.
