After a hard-fought match, Suwon Samsung punched their ticket to the quarterfinals.
Suwon defeated Daegu FC 1-0 in the round of 16 of the 2023 Hana OneQ Korea Football Association (FA) Cup at Suwon World Cup Stadium at 7 p.m. on Thursday. The winner of the match will meet Incheon United in the quarterfinals.안전놀이터
The home team lined up as a three-back. Min Sang-ki, Go Myung-seok, and Lee Kyu-seok were the central defenders. Son Ho-joon and Kim Tae-hwan covered the two flanks. Kim Bo-Kyung, Lee Jong-Sung, Yoo Je-Ho, and Kim Joo-Chan lined up in the midfield, with Myung Jun-Jae up front. Yang Hyung-mo was in goal.
Daegu also played with a three-back. Kim Young-joon, Vasellus, and Lee Geun-ho were in charge of the back three. Serato, Park Se-jin, Keita, and Kim Kang-san were in the midfield. Lee Won-woo, Hong Jung-woon, and Jang Jang-won defended, with Oh Seung-hoon in goal.
The beginning of the game was an exploratory one. Suwon played short passes and tried to find cracks in Daegu’s defense. Daegu dropped their line and countered Suwon’s attack.
The first goal came. In the 26th minute, Kim Joo-chan split the goal with a right-footed shot. Kim Bo-kyung’s sharp cross from the right was the main contributor.
The intense game continued. Players from both teams collided strongly to avoid conceding a counterattack in transition. Daegu went on the offensive after the goal, but they were unable to finish. They were unable to find the back of the net due to Suwon’s strong pressure. The first half ended with Suwon leading 1-0.

Suwon made a change at the start of the second half, bringing on Jung Seung-won in place of Lee Kyu-seok. In the third minute, Lee Jong-sung’s mid-range shot was blocked by the goalkeeper.
Daegu failed to capitalize on a crucial chance. In the 15th minute, Serato tried a left-footed shot from the edge of the box, but it was well wide of the goal. Daegu introduced Sejingya for Lee Geun-ho in the 16th minute. In the 24th minute, Kim Young-jun’s left-footed shot went just wide left.
Suwon took off Kim Joo-chan in the 27th minute and brought on Jeon Jin-woo. Daegu brought on Go Jae-hyun in the 28th minute and brought Kim Young-joon to the bench. In the 33rd minute, Suwon reinforced their defense by bringing on Park Dae-won for striker Myung Jun-jae. Daegu brought on striker Edgar.
Until the end of the game, Suwon managed to hold off Daegu’s total offense. The game ended with a 1-0 victory for Suwon.
